MARY YACOOB
Mary Yacoob, Propositions for Cities: |
Two central threads in Mary Yacoob’s practice are drawing and visual languages. What follows is the filtering of close observation of everyday life, or sketches for unmade artworks, or designs for cities through systemic drawing techniques such as repetition, mirroring, and geometry. She is often inspired by an outside source of some kind, such as signs of time within the domestic environment, or newspaper images of landscapes, or museum displays of steam engines. Notions of cross-disciplinary influences appeal to her. |
